Special Needs

At Longvernal, we seek to meet the needs of all children regardless of age, ability, culture or religion.

Some children experience difficulties of an academic, social or emotional nature and will need extra support. We have a small team of committed and experienced Learning Support Assistants who work with teachers to offer individual and small group support as required.

We will call upon the support of a wide range of professionals (such as Education Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist) to advise us as required. Children with special needs will have an individual education plan to which parents and carers will have access and which will be reviewed termly.

We recognise that some children will have special needs due to their exceptional abilities. In these cases class teachers will prepare extension materials to stimulate and challenge these pupils.
