At Longvernal Primary School, we take pride in our school uniform and the sense of belonging it brings to our Longvernal Family. Our uniform reflects our shared identity and high expectations, whilst remaining practical and inclusive for all families.
Our uniform is gender-neutral and families are free to choose from the options outlined below:
Children should wear:
Polo shirt: School polo shirt in either black or green.
Jumper or cardigan: School sweatshirt or school cardigan.
Trousers, skirt or pinafore: Plain black school trousers, skirt or pinafore dress.
Footwear: Black school shoes or plain black trainers.
During warmer weather, children may choose to wear a green gingham summer dress.
Please note: Black school fleeces are for PE and Forest School days only and are not part of our everyday school uniform.
Green school PE T-shirt.
Plain black shorts or jogging bottoms.
Suitable trainers or daps.
A black school fleece or plain black unbranded fleece may also be worn when needed.
Forest School is an important part of our curriculum, providing opportunities for exploration, adventure and outdoor learning. Forest School days are not non-uniform days and children should wear appropriate practical clothing rather than their everyday school uniform.
We recommend:
Dark coloured jogging bottoms or robust outdoor/combat trousers.
A plain, long-sleeved top.
A plain fleece/hoodie or the optional school fleece.
Suitable outdoor footwear like wellies or walking boots.
A warm, waterproof coat and waterproof trousers when required.
Hats, gloves and additional layers during colder weather.
Clothing should be comfortable, suitable for outdoor activities and appropriate for all weather conditions, including mud!
In line with DfE guidance, Longvernal Primary School requires a maximum of three branded uniform items:
School sweatshirt or cardigan.
School polo shirt in either black or green.
All other compulsory uniform items are unbranded and may be purchased from any suitable retailer.
The following branded items are optional and are not required:
Black school fleece for PE and Forest School. Suitable plain black, unbranded alternatives are permitted.
School-logo book bag. Any suitable unbranded school bag may be used instead.
We actively encourage families to make use of pre-loved uniform as part of our commitment to sustainability. This is a great way to reduce uniform costs whilst giving items a new home.

Families requiring further assistance with uniform are welcome to contact the school office confidentially.
Jewellery: Jewellery is not permitted, with the exception of one small stud earring in each ear. Earrings must be removed for PE and any activities where they may present a safety risk.
Make-up: Make-up, including false nails and false eyelashes, is not permitted.
We recognise that children may have individual needs relating to disability, sensory sensitivities, medical conditions, religion or other circumstances.
We will work with families to make reasonable and appropriate adjustments to our uniform expectations, ensuring that all children feel comfortable, included and ready to learn.
