The Pupil Premium Grant is additional government funding provided to schools to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and help ensure that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Funding supports pupils who are eligible for targeted benefits-related free school meals, or who have been eligible within the previous six years.
At Longvernal Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their background or circumstances, have the opportunity to thrive. We use Pupil Premium funding strategically to remove barriers to learning, raise attainment and provide access to a broad range of educational experiences and opportunities.
Each year, we publish our Pupil Premium Strategy Statement, which outlines the challenges faced by our disadvantaged pupils, how we intend to use the funding, our desired outcomes and a review of the impact of our previous spending.
If your family receives certain benefits, your child may be eligible for free school meals and additional support through Pupil Premium funding.
From September 2026, all children in households receiving Universal Credit are entitled to free school meals. However, the eligibility criteria for Pupil Premium funding are different.
We encourage all eligible families to register, even if their child already receives universal infant free school meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2.
